Driftwood Cottage is our tiny house

The efficient and charming Driftwood cottage will instantly capture your imagination. First you’ll notice the custom ladder-staircase (6 carpeted steps) that leads to the cozy sleeping loft. A window there gives you a blue water view! The comfortable living room on the main level includes a single size futon for a young child or teenager. Look through the wall of windows to the private secret garden with a small bench. A few steps down is a fully equipped kitchen and a dining table for self made meals. From here you’re steps away everything. Go down our path to the beach and waves or walk through the village shops and galleries displaying one-of-kind treasures. The world-class restaurants feature seasonal, local, organic ingredients in hearty, satisfying creative dishes.

Driftwood features custom details

Custom woodworking and tile work can be found everywhere in the Driftwood Cottage. The closet door with the sunburst pattern, the live edge dining table, the round tile shower that can also be used as a Japanese soaking tub, and the cottage itself were crafted in the late 70’s and early 80’s by the idealistic artisans that flocked to the inspiring, spectacular Mendocino Coast in search of a creative and meaningful life.

For your convenience…

Make your coffee your way with a drip coffee maker, filters, and a supply of locally roasted, freshly ground organic, fair trade coffee from Thanksgiving Coffee, just north of us in Fort Bragg. Thanksgiving Coffee was a pioneer in offering organically grown, fairly traded, shade grown coffee. There’s also an assortment of 11 organic teas from Numi Teas of Oakland from which to choose. Green, black, white, and herbal are all in the mix.  A refrigerator and microwave are provided as well, ready for your favorite snacks and beverages.  Glassware, dishes, pots and pans, knives and cutting board, utensils, wine opener, and paper towels: everything you might need is at the ready.

And then there’s breakfast

A warm, delicious breakfast is included each morning, served in our ocean view dining room. For example, start with fresh organic fruit then a vegetable frittata with a ginger apple or huckleberry scone, depending on the season. The next day might be Light and Tangy Oatmeal Waffles paired with locally made chicken apple sausage. The menu changes daily. We use organic, sustainably grown ingredients whenever possible and proudly serve Thanksgiving Coffee, roasted in Ft. Bragg, 10 minutes away. We happily accommodate special dietary needs. Wholesome food providing energy for hiking, biking, shopping, or wine tasting.  So many possibilities…
