Private, woodsy Garden Cottage
Garden Cottage is nestled in our perennial garden with.a pleasant blue water view over the garden through the west window. The beach and surf can be seen through the Dutch door and on the deck. Watch for hummingbirds dining at the nearby fuchsias and other flowering plants. Thoroughly redwood, this private, cozy cottage has a wood burning Franklin stove with glass doors to take the chill off of the cool evenings. Picnic or relax with a book on the spacious and sunny deck.
Steps away from the beach and village
Head down to the beach on Alegria’s private path and stroll by the crashing waves or walk to nearby shops and galleries displaying one-of-kind treasures. Have dinner in one of Mendocino’s world-class restaurants and cafes. Most feature seasonal, local, organic ingredients in hearty, satisfying, creative dishes. Back in the Garden Cottage at sundown, light a fire, and relax in the warmth of soft light, a flickering wood fire, and the gentle sounds of the waves. Later, sink into a comfortable bed with silky smooth 600 thread count sheets, a fluffy duvet, and a beautiful cotton quilt:

Make your coffee your way with a drip coffee maker, filters, and a supply of locally roasted, freshly ground organic, fair trade coffee from Thanksgiving Coffee, just north of us in Fort Bragg. Thanksgiving Coffee was a pioneer in offering organically grown, fairly traded, shade grown coffee. There’s also an assortment of 11 organic teas from Numi Teas of Oakland from which to choose. Green, black, white, and herbal are all in the mix. A refrigerator and microwave are provided as well, ready for your favorite snacks and beverages. Glassware, a cutting board and serrated knife, wine opener, utensils and paper towels: everything you might need is at the ready.
And then there’s breakfast…
A warm, delicious breakfast is included each morning, served in our ocean view dining room. For example, start with fresh organic fruit, then vegetable frittata with a baked-that-morning scone or coffee cake. The next day might be Light and Tangy Oatmeal Waffles paired with locally made chicken apple sausage. We use organic, sustainably grown ingredients whenever possible and we happily accommodate special dietary needs. Wholesome food providing energy for hiking, biking, shopping, or wine tasting.
