Mendocino Music Festival Special
The 2021 Mendocino Music Festival in July will be subject to CDC and State and County Health Department Guidances. Schedules of concerts and artists are forthcoming. Return to this page for the latest news.
Meanwhile, here is a description of what the Festival is usually:
Established in 1986, the Mendocino Music Festival was the dream of Allan Pollack, Susan Waterfall and former principal bassoonist of the San Francisco Symphony, Walter Green. The Festival is a magical blend of fine music by outstanding performers in one of the most enchanting sites in Northern California. Evenings include orchestra concerts, Big Band, chamber music ensembles, dance, blues, jazz, world, folk, bluegrass and popular contemporary music. Daytime concerts include lecture/recitals at the Piano Series, a performance by participants in the Emerging Artists Program, and small concerts in intimate venues throughout the historic town of Mendocino. The Festival Orchestra consists of professional musicians from all over California and beyond. They are in residence for the entire two weeks of the Festival and make up some of the small ensembles, too. Additionally, genre-bending musicians come from all over the world to play at the Festival
The Tent Concert Hall
The evening concerts are held in a 840 seat tent on the grounds of the Mendocino Headlands State Park in the Village of Mendocino. It’s a stunning venue. A concert hall on the edge of the earth! Come early and enjoy a picnic on the tables surrounding the tent on the headlands. Watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean before going in to hear the artists perform.
